Requirements

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for capturing and sharing 360° walkthroughs using an Insta360 camera, including equipment recommendations, video capture best practices, and submission guidelines.

🔎 Overview of Workflow

  1. Capture the Walkthrough
Use an Insta360 camera and the Evercam Capture app to record a walkthrough of your site.

  2. Send Us the Footage
Upload the videos directly through the Evercam Capture App or the Evercam Dashboard.

  3. Processing
Our 3D Team processes the footage within 1–3 business days.

  4. Review & Share
You’ll receive a notification when the walkthroughs are available on the Evercam Dashboard.

⚠️Equipment Requirements

Required (Customer to Purchase)

  • 360 Camera

  • Mounting Options

    • Helmet Mount (Recommended for higher image quality, stabilisation, and larger capture areas.)

    • Selfie Stick (Great for shorter grab-and-go captures. Less stable. )

  • MicroSD Card

    • V30 rating, minimum 256 GB

    • Purchase link: Insta360 Memory Cards

Note: The camera requires a microSD card to store footage. It is not included in the Insta360 camera kit.

📷Capturing Best Practices

  • Duration: 2–7 minutes per walk is ideal. Maximum of 20 mins.

We cannot guarantee good results for walks longer than 20 minutes.

  • Stabilization: Use a helmet mount.

If unavailable, place the camera on your head to avoid blocking the view.

    Walking Tips

    • Maintain a steady and moderate walking speed

    • Plan your route in advance to cover as much of the required rooms

    • Walk in a straight line and no less than 1 meter away from walls

Image showing a comparison of a "passable walking route" (LEFT) that covers just enough details vs. "recommended walking route" (RIGHT) which is more exhaustive.

  • Multi-floor Sites: Record a separate video for each floor or area

    • Floor transition while recording is not supported. Users must start and stop recordings on the same level.

    • Staircases: Users may only capture while walking up from the current floor and must end the recording before reaching the landing at the level above.  Single staircase recordings that span multiple floors is not supported.

  • Lighting: Ensure adequate lighting. Avoid pitch-black areas or use temporary static or mobile lighting.
    (e.g., Bushman Halo 360 Light)

  • Avoid Crowds: Capture in spaces free of people or moving objects

🚐 360 Drive

1. 360 Drive Support: We support 360 drives using a camera mounted on top of the car.
2. Speed Recommendation: The vehicle should not exceed 15 km/h, and ideally should drive slower to avoid capturing blurry images.
3. Marker Spacing: The distance between markers will be larger than usual.
4. Measurement Accuracy: Measurements will not be highly accurate.

📂Submitting Your Files

Files to Share

  • Only send the .VID file from each recording (skip the .LRV preview file)

  • Optional: Name each file according to the floor or area it covers

Submission Methods

  • Use the Evercam Capture App for direct upload (standard video/timelapse format)

  • Upload via the platform (only standard video accepted)

  • Or (as a last resort) upload via file-sharing service (Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.)

Additional Required Information

  • Reference Measurement: Include a known measurement (e.g., door width, pole height) visible in the footage for accurate 3D scaling

  • Optional: Share a PDF of the floor plan for mini-map overlay

📂 Video Output Types

There are two Video Output Types for the 360 app:

Video Type

Description

Best Use Cases Supported

360° Video

An immersive, navigable footage of interior and exterior spaces captured with a 360° camera. Used in tandem with the Evercam Capture app, it allows for assigning floor levels, layout plans and naming multiple walks to orient the user.

Remote site inspections and virtual walkthrough, progress monitoring, historical documentation for dispute avoidance, tagging for field notes, issues or snag lists.

Time Lapse Video

Time-lapse video is a high-speed video generated from a sequence of still images captured over an extended duration. It condenses long-term progress into a short, dynamic video.

Prior to the walk, the Time Lapse format should be selected on the Insta 360 camera settings page.

High-level progress monitoring, project marketing and storytelling, historical documentation, dispute resolution and internal communication.
