PPE Detection (Beta)

πŸ” Overview

PPE Detection checks whether workers entering danger zones/specific area on site are wearing the proper PPE Equipment, specifically the following:

  • Hi-vis vest 🦺

  • Hard hat πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

  • Glasses πŸ‘“

Disclaimer: Gloves detection is not yet accurate and we are working on improving this before providing it.

πŸ‘· How Does It Work?

When a worker enters the construction site, the camera detects the worker who crosses the region of interest line and then sends an alert to ExNVR, which stores the event and time. ExNVR communicates with our backend which processes the events and runs the detection every 2 minutes. The PPE Detection model runs in the background to detect the 4 PPE equipment and returns the results to our backend for processing and storage, after which the events/results are sent to the Evercam Dashboard.

Please note that, as PPE Detection is still in beta, some results may not always be perfect. We're actively working to improve its accuracy and capabilities, and user feedback is critical in this process.

🧰 Features

The PPE tab can be found in the left-side navigation panel of the Dashboard.

Only users who have access to the PPE cameras can see the PPE results.

  1. Filter results by camera.

  2. Filter results to focus on a specific equipment.

  3. Mark-up an image (within the recording).

  4. Generate a report.

We remove detections older than 7 days for GDPR compliance.

β˜‘οΈ A successful PPE Detection requires a discussion ofβ€”

  • The construction site layout

  • The proposed camera location & foot traffic plan πŸ—ΊοΈ

  • Unexpected obstacles (vehicles, equipment, trees or bushes) 🌳

  • Access opening times/operating hours ⏱️

  • Expected worker volume

  • Customer Expectations of Success: What is the purpose of this report? πŸ“„

    • Overall objective

    • Accuracy requirements

      • False Positives βž•

      • False Negatives βž–

βš™οΈ Operations

  • Evercam Specified Hardware πŸ“Ή: PPE Camera

    • Camera with the Line Crossing/PPE Detection feature

      1. A dedicated camera to be installed at the worker’s entrance to the danger area of the site

        1. Mounting is usually to the control box at a height of 2 meters and at a distance of approximately 3-5 meters

          Camera mounted on Kit

      2. See Camera FOV/Angle set-up page

  • Mains Power. We avoid solar given the number of other things that must go right for a successful PPE Detection.

  • If nighttime detection is required, suitable lighting is needed. πŸ’‘
