Observations

Observations brings AI-generated site observations into one place for review in Evercam.

An observation is a snapshot in time of something Evercam’s AI has identified in site imagery. The goal is to help your team find conditions worth reviewing without having to search through camera footage manually.

Observations is a review tool. The image and the reason for the observation give you evidence to check, and you decide whether the observation is valid.

What you’ll see

Each observation includes the information you need to understand why it was surfaced, including:

  • the visual evidence

  • the date and time

  • the source camera

  • the observation type

  • a short reason explaining why it was flagged

  • its review status once it has been reviewed

Depending on your project, the observation types available to you may vary.

Review an observation

  1. Open a project and select Observations from the project navigation.



  2. Choose the date or range you want to review.

  3. Open an observation evidence when you need a closer look.

  4. Review the image and the reason it was flagged.

  5. Select Valid when the observation accurately represents what you can see, or Invalid when it does not.



  6. Undo the choice if you make a mistake.

Valid means the observation matches the visible evidence. It does not mean Evercam has made a legal or compliance judgement about the site.

Invalid means the AI-generated observation does not accurately represent the visible condition and should not be treated as a valid observation.

Access and exports

Your project role and camera access control which observations you can see.

If your role has the required Observations permissions, you can also export observation data for further review or reporting.




PPE and Observations

PPE detection is still part of Evercam. Missing PPE results are reviewed through Observations alongside other observation types as they become available.

The existing PPE Detection and PPE Expectations guidance is still useful for understanding PPE camera setup, placement, site conditions, and detection limitations.

Think of the difference this way:

  • PPE documentation explains how PPE detection works and how to set the camera up well.

  • Observations is where you review the AI-generated results and decide whether they are valid.

AI-generated observations need review

Camera angle, distance, lighting, obstructions, and changing site conditions can all affect what the AI can see. An observation can occasionally be missed or classified incorrectly.

That is why Observations keeps the evidence and review decision together. Use the image and the explanation to make your own judgement, and mark the result Valid or Invalid.
