Data Security & Privacy FAQs

Do Evercam cameras capture video recordings, or is the data limited to photos?

Evercam captures both images and video. The dashboard displays JPEG images refreshed at up to one frame every five seconds. In addition, video is recorded at approximately 8 frames per second and stored locally on hard drives within the camera's control box.

How long is project data retained?

All project data is retained for 90 days following project completion. Clients who require longer retention may select an extended storage plan at an additional cost. If no storage option is chosen within the 90-day window, data will automatically revert to the free "Minimal" plan, under which most project data is deleted. As the data controller, the client has ultimate responsibility for determining their data retention requirements.

What security measures protect data in transit and at rest?

Data transmitted between Evercam cameras and media servers travels over 4G SIM networks provided by third-party carriers. In transit, data is protected using IPSec encryption and VPN tunnels, with TLS 1.2 and 1.3 applied to sensitive data. All access to the Evercam platform — whether through the web application or mobile app — is served over HTTPS.

How is client data kept separate from other clients' data?

Evercam employs both physical and logical segregation. Locally, data is stored on dedicated on-site hard drives. In the cloud, data is separated using containerised storage managed by certified infrastructure providers, ensuring no co-mingling of client data.

How is the physical security of data centres and servers ensured?

Evercam exclusively uses data centres certified to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 standards. Physical security obligations are formalised under Service Level Agreements with those providers.

Can project data be downloaded at the end of a project?

Yes. Upon project completion, images remain accessible via the cloud for 90 days. This period can be extended upon request for an additional charge. For further details, see Project Storage.

What is the delay between image capture and availability on the platform?

Image availability depends on the mobile data connectivity at the site. Under good conditions, images appear within five seconds of capture. In areas with limited connectivity, this may extend to a few minutes. Please note that Evercam does not control broadband or mobile network performance at any given location.

What encryption does Evercam use for data in transit and at rest?

For data in transit, Evercam uses VPN tunnels and TLS 1.2/1.3 over HTTPS. It is worth noting that Evercam cameras do not connect to client networks; instead, they operate over dedicated SIM cards using specialised hardware, providing an additional layer of network isolation.

How are Evercam's AI models trained, and how is privacy protected?

Evercam trains its AI models — including those powering features such as the Gate Report — using imagery sourced from real construction sites. To protect client confidentiality, all training data is fully anonymised, and any projects covered by a non-disclosure agreement are automatically excluded from the training process.

For in-app image recognition, Evercam currently uses Google Gemini to deliver accurate, real-time object detection at scale. Models are continuously refined as new data becomes available, ensuring ongoing improvements in reliability and accuracy across all AI-powered features.
