Requirements

This guide outlines the requirements and recommendations for integrating BIM (Building Information Modelling) into Evercam for enhanced visualisation and comparison. It includes supported file formats, model-sharing methods, and construction site data we need for accurate BIM alignment.

1. BIM File Requirements

BIM Model

Timeline Integration (Optional)

  • If the BIM model includes a timeline, Evercam can display BIM sequencing within the iTwin BIM viewer.

Note: The given model should preferably be the latest and final design model.

2. Supported BIM Formats & Sharing Instructions 🗒️

a. Autodesk Revit & Navisworks

  • Supported formats:

    • Revit: .rvt (clean, single or multi-discipline)

    • Navisworks: .nwd or .nwc (federated models)

  • Sharing methods:

    • “Upload your BIM“ via Dashboard through BIM Compare or BIM view (Maximum file size upload limit is 10GB).

    • Connect using the Autodesk Connector and choose the model to add.

    • Share with 3d@evercam.io the ACC project or folder that contains the file with Edit access.

    • Send via any file-sharing platform and send to 3d@evercam.io.

      • We will download, process, and upload it to our system.

Processing takes 1-2 days, depending on model size.

b. Bentley Synchro & iModel®

  • Supported format: .sp

  • Sharing Method:

    • “Upload your BIM“ via Dashboard through BIM Compare or BIM view

    • If using Bentley iModel® Hub:

  • If not:

    • Send the updated file via file-sharing.

Processing takes 5-7 days, depending on model size.

BIM models should not exceed 2GB for guaranteed performance.

3. Camera Location Requirements 📍

To ensure precise BIM alignment, provide:

  • A master plan with the camera locations marked.

  • The XYZ coordinates of each Evercam camera on site.

    • We will get this from the camera location on file.

Note: Camera position does not affect BIM Compare, but improves alignment accuracy. Some camera types supported :

  • Internal cameras

  • Industrial-scale cameras

  • Infrastructure cameras

  • High-mounted aerial cameras

4. Construction Site Data for Alignment 🏗️

We perform weekly checks to ensure BIM alignment remains accurate as the project progresses.

a. Early Stage Requirements

  • Landmarks: Must be stationary, visible elements of the building found in the BIM model.

    • Do not use external items like trees, trucks, or containers.

  • Ground Conditions: Sites at this stage are often flat/muddy with no foundations.

  • Alignment accuracy may be lower early on but improves over time.

b. Advanced Stage Requirements

  • Provide the latest and final design model.

  • At this stage, we expect:

    • Visible foundations

    • Some completed floors

    • Clearly defined structures

5. Hardware Recommendations 🖥️

For the best BIM experience on Evercam:

  • GPU: Dedicated GPU with WebGL support and ≥1 GB video memory

  • CPU: Modern multi-core (e.g., Intel i5 or equivalent)

  • RAM: Minimum 8 GB

  • Browser: Use Google Chrome or any browser that supports WebGL

6. Enabling hardware acceleration for Chrome

To enable hardware acceleration and optimize BIM Viewer on Chrome, go to (1) System > Display > Graphics > Custom Settings for Application.

(2) Type chrome://flags on the search browser. (3) Under Override software rendering list, set to Enabled, then (4) select Relaunch.

(5) Check whether hardware acceleration is turned on in Chrome by typing chrome://gpu into the address bar at the top of the browser.

8. Important Notice

After 3 months from when your project has been decommissioned, the BIM data will also be archived (unless you tell us specifically that you still need to access it from the Dashboard).
