Ask AI (Beta)

Evercam Ask AI is an AI-powered assistant built directly into your dashboard. It allows you to query camera footage, weather data, vehicle detections, and safety incidents using natural language.


Getting Started

Ask AI is available on every dashboard page and is context-aware. It automatically knows:

  • Your currently selected project.

  • The active camera.

  • The page you are currently viewing.

  • The current date and time.


You do not need to repeat this information unless you want to query a different project or camera.

Managing the Ask AI Panel

How to do it

Open

Click the Ask AI icon in the dashboard toolbar.


Close / Collapse

Click the collapse arrow (^) in the header.


Fullscreen

Click the full screen icon in the header.


Minimize

Click the minimise button to reduce it to a compact bar.


Resize / Move

Drag any edge to resize, or drag the header to reposition.


Core Capabilities

Ask AI routes your requests to specific agents based on your needs:

  • Media Creation: Create video clips (up to 60 minutes) or condensed timelapses (30/60/90 seconds).

  • Weather: Get current conditions, forecasts, or historical data. Use "in Fahrenheit" if you prefer that unit.

  • Vehicle & ANPR: Count or list detected vehicles and plate numbers. This requires the Gate Report feature to be enabled.

  • Safety & Smart Search: Find workers near heavy machinery or identify site hazards.

  • Navigation: Tell Ask AI to "Go to the recordings page" or "Open media hub" to move instantly across the dashboard.

  • Charts: Visualise weather or vehicle data as interactive graphs.


Creating Media (Clips & Timelapses)

Video Clips

  • Limit: Maximum duration of 60 minutes per clip.

  • Usage: Specify a time, such as "Create a clip for the last 30 minutes".

  • Note: If you do not provide a start/end time, Ask AI will prompt you for them.


Timelapses

Time-lapses condense long periods into short videos.

  • Output Durations: 30 (default), 60, or 90 seconds.

  • Schedules:

    • Continuous (Default): Monday–Friday, 00:00–22:00.

    • Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–18:00.

    • Custom: You can specify your own days and hours.


Interaction Tips

  • Be Specific with Time: "From 9am to 10am" is more effective than "this morning".

  • Chain Queries: You can combine commands, e.g., "Show me the last truck detection on the recordings page".

  • Interactive Forms: If Ask AI needs more info (like picking one camera out of many), it will show a form so you don't have to type.

  • Clickable Timestamps: Timestamps in chat responses are clickable and will navigate you to that exact moment in your recordings.


Important Limitations

  • Read-Only: Ask AI can query and create media, but it cannot modify your dashboard settings.

  • Exporting: Exporting data to CSV or PDF is not supported directly from the chat; use the standard dashboard export features instead.

  • Project Context: If you navigate to the "All Projects" home page, your project context resets.
