API

Access Evercam's Application Programming Interface (API) to incorporate Evercam images/data into your custom app or existing critical business applications with assistance from Evercam's technical support team.

📜 Evercam API Access Policy

General Principles 📒

  • Evercam provides API access on a selective basis to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our platform and services.

  • All requests for API access require a consultation with Evercam to discuss the intended use case, data requirements, and technical feasibility.

  • Evercam reserves the right to approve, deny, or limit API access based on the evaluation of each request and its potential impact on our platform and resources.

Restrictions

  • Continuous 24/7 video streaming is strictly prohibited.

  • API requests that could potentially degrade the performance of primary Evercam services will be restricted or denied.

  • Evercam may implement additional usage limits or restrictions on a case-by-case basis to ensure fair and responsible access.

Process for Requesting API Access 💬

  • Contact your Evercam Customer Success Manager for consultation and discuss your specific API access needs.

  • Provide a detailed description of your intended use case, including the type of data you require, the expected volume of requests, and technology platform/vendor you intend to connect to.

  • Work collaboratively with Evercam to determine the feasibility and scope of your API access.

Additional Information ℹ️

  • Specific API documentation and technical details will be provided upon approval of access.

  • Evercam may update or modify this policy at any time to reflect changing requirements and ensure optimal platform performance.

📑 Understanding the Evercam API

Evercam provides a public API that allows users to access and interact with their camera data programmatically. This section outlines what the API is, how it can be used, and why usage charges apply.

What Is an API? ℹ️

API stands for Application Programming Interface. It allows two software systems to communicate with each other in a structured and automated way.

In practical terms, Evercam’s API enables your software or systems to:

  • Retrieve live camera snapshots and recordings

  • Access historical footage

  • Generate and download time-lapse videos

  • Automate camera-related tasks without using the Evercam web interface

A helpful way to think about it: the API works like a remote control or a bridge, letting your system talk to Evercam to request specific data or actions.

API ID and API Keys are linked to a user, not a camera. If a user wants to get snapshots from a camera, he/she should have the camera shared with him/her.

Key Characteristics of the Evercam API 🔑

  • Public: The API documentation is available for anyone to explore. This encourages transparency and flexibility in integration.

  • Powerful: The API provides deep access to camera content and project data.

Why Is There a Charge for API Access? 💰

While the API is open to use, it is not free. Charges apply to cover:

  • Infrastructure load: Each API request uses processing power and bandwidth, especially for video content and large-scale access.

  • Support resources: Most API integrations require strategic discussions and technical support from senior-level engineers on both sides. Evercam provides direct implementation support, which involves time and expertise.

  • Platform protection: Without current limitations on usage, unrestricted access could negatively affect server performance. Charges help prevent misuse and ensure stability for all users.

Common Use Cases for the API 💼

Customers use the Evercam API to:

  • Integrate with project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Autodesk)

  • Embed live camera feeds into custom dashboards

  • Automate image captures and reporting tasks

  • Build workflows that react to events on-site

Important Notes ⚠️

  • API pricing is part of Evercam’s commercial offering and should be discussed with your Evercam representative during planning or implementation.

  • Do not assume public access implies free use. Open documentation does not remove the need for a formal agreement or pricing plan.

  • For enterprise-scale integrations or high-frequency usage, coordination with the Evercam team is required.
