These procedures are region- and configuration-specific. Confirm local electrical, structural, safety and access requirements before work begins. Contact Evercam Operations if the site differs from the documented arrangement.

Gate Report/ANPR Installation

The Gate Report and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras are to be mounted to the non-penetrating ground mast.

Planning and Positioning

Mast Assembly

  1. You'll need to lay the base in the desired camera location.  Using (4) flat washers and (4) bolts, attach the mast mounting plate/post to the base.

  2. You should slide the lower mast section onto the mounting/post, then secure the lower mast section using (2) bolts with flat washers & nuts.

  3. Then you can attach the angle braces to the base and the lower mast section using bolts with flat washers and nuts.

  4. You'll need to lay the base/mast assembly on its side so you can slide the upper mast section into the lower mast section.  Then you can bolt through the upper and lower mast sections together using (2) bolts with flat washers & nuts.

Gate Report Equipment Mounting

  1. You'll have to stand the base/mast assembly upright to attach the metal mounting bracket to the top and bottom mounting flanges of the enclosure using the provided hardware.

  2. Using the provided U-bolts, attach the enclosure to the lower mast section.

  3. You need to mount the ANPR camera (camera make & model may vary) to the lower mast section at approximately 6'-0" AFG.  Then plug the Ethernet cable into the camera and run it down along the lower mast section to the enclosure bottom.

  4. You'll need to lay the base/mast assembly on its side to mount the Gate Report (GR) camera (camera make & model may vary) to the upper mast section as high as possible (approximately 20'-0 AFG).  Then plug the Ethernet cable into the camera and run it down along the upper & lower mast sections to the enclosure bottom.

  5. Using wire/cable ties, you'll have to attach the two (2) Ethernet cables to the mast at intervals of approximately 18-24".

  6. Then plug the Ethernet cables into the weatherproof RJ45 cable glands on the bottom of the enclosure, where the ports are labeled for ANPR and GR.

  7. You have to make sure to plug the correct cable into the correct port.

  8. You'll need to plug the AC power cord into the power source.  The system will begin to power up.

  9. It typically takes about 5-7 minutes for the system to fully complete the boot-up process.

  10. You can place the backup battery into the enclosure on the bottom right, and connect the battery to the blue Altronix power supply board battery leads.

  11. While the system is powering up, contact the Evercam Support team (support@evercam.io) to finish the installation.

Solar Unit Pole Installation

BBA-6 Enclosure

  1. You can prep the enclosure by drilling holes in the enclosure bottom and dividing the shelf per the following diagram for cable pass-through. You have to insert (1) weatherproof RJ45 (cate5/cat6) connector, (1) PG16 cable gland, and (1) PVC snap-in bushing.

  2. You should mount the BBA-6 enclosure using the center holes in the top & bottom mounting flanges.

  3. You need to measure and mark the pole at 6'-0" AFG. This will be the top flange hole location.

  4. You can pre-drill using a 1/4" drill bit.

  5. You need to mount the BBA-6 enclosure using 3/8"x 3 1/2" galvanized lag screws & 3/8" galvanized washers.

  6. You need to repeat the steps for the bottom flange.

  7. You have to install (3) 110-ah batteries into the bottom compartment of the enclosure.

  8. You will need to mount the back panel into the top compartment of the enclosure.

  9. The Panduit should line up above the 1 3/8" hole with the PVC snap-in bushing.

Solar Panels

  1. Install the Solar Panels facing a south-eastern direction.

  2. Mark the mounting hole location for the bottom solar panel bracket according to the diagram below. Using a ¼" drill bit, you can pre-drill the top and bottom solar bracket holes.

  3. You need to attach the solar panel to the mounting bracket before mounting the panel/ assembly mount to the pole.

  4. You have to mount the bottom solar panel/mount assembly to the pole using (2) 3/8"x3 1/2" galvanized lag bolts with 3/8" washers.

  5. Repeat these steps for the remaining solar panel brackets/ panels.

Solar Panel Wire Terminations

  1. Using the Evercam provided 5'-0" long MCA extension cables, you should connect the solar panels in "series" per the following diagram:

  2. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) ends of the 10awg solar cable to the appropriate PV terminals on the MPPT charge controller.

Battery Wire Terminations

  1. You should connect the battery’s negative (-) terminals to the negative (-) BATT terminal on the MPPT charge controller.

  2. Then connect the battery's positive (+) terminals to the positive (+) BATT terminal on the MPPT charge controller.

Powered Unit Non-Penetrating Roof Mount (NPR) Installation

Unpacking and Assembly

  1. You have to unpack the non-penetrating roof mount components from the manufacturer's packaging. Confirm receipt of all components. Then, organize the "L" shaped angle brackets per the following diagram, ensuring that the "center" holes are aligned.

  2. Using a ½" socket/ratcheting wrench, you can install the provided carriage bolt, flat washer, and nut at each connection point.

  3. Insert and hand-tighten all connectors before fully tightening them down.

  4. You can spread the legs of the tripod assembly and align it with the base support per the following image ensuring that the 2" pipe support ring is centered above the center support holes. Attach it using a ½" socket/ ratcheting wrench, carriage bolt, flat washer, and nut at each connection point.

  5. With the pre-drilled holes down, you need to insert the 2" mast through the support ring, aligning the holes with the holes in the center support of the base. Connect the 2" mast to the support base using a ½" socket / ratcheting wrench, carriage bolt, flat washer, and nut at each connection point.

  6. You need to tighten all connections, including the pre-installed bolts on the support ring, to ensure stability.

Rooftop Installation

  1. At the desired location, you can place the manufacturer-provided rubber mat on the roof to protect it before placing the non-penetrating roof mount assembly on the mat.

  2. Insert six (6) standard concrete blocks inside the non-penetrating roof mount base to weigh down and stabilise the assembly.

Enclosure Mounting

  1. Using the provided hardware, you need to mount the metal mounting brackets to the enclosure flange on both the top and bottom.

  2. You can then mount the enclosure to the 2" mast of the non-penetrating roof mount assembly using either pipe straps or U-bolts.

  3. You can connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ45 weatherproof bulkhead located at the bottom of the enclosure.

  4. Then you may now plug the enclosure power/extension cord into the wall outlet.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Victron Connect

To perform any of the following functions, you will need the Victron Connect app downloaded to your smartphone. You can search for and download the app using your device's app store.

Connect to the MPPT Charge Controller

  1. You need to open the Victron Connect app and locate the MPPT charge controller in the device list.

  2. You need to enter the device's Bluetooth PIN when prompted.

  3. PIN: 000000 (6 zeros).

  4. You are now connected to the MPPT charge controller and can perform the following operations:

Firmware Upgrade

  1. If needed, your MPPT charge controller will prompt you to upgrade the device's firmware. You can click the update button.

  2. Important: Do not leave this screen or take any incoming phone calls during the upgrade process, as this will interrupt/cancel the upgrade.

  3. Once the upgrade is completed, you may click continue.

  4. Your device's firmware is now up to date.

Battery Readings

  1. Connect to the MPPT charge controller using the Victron Connect app and Bluetooth. Please ensure you are within range of the Evercam equipment enclosure.

  2. You have to open the Victron Connect app. You need to locate the MPPT charge controller in the device list.

  3. You can choose the charge controller you want to connect to by clicking on the correct name from the list. This will open the device information page.

  4. The battery voltage reading is located approximately halfway down the screen.

Load Output Settings

  1. The load output settings are displayed towards the bottom of the device information screen.

  2. To change the load output state, you need to click on the setting gear icon ⚙️ on the top right of the page.

  3. You can choose the Load Output option.

  4. You have to switch the load output to "always on", and then click the back arrow.

  5. That's it.

Camera Mounting

Hikvision

  1. Using the appropriate fasteners for your mounting location, you need to attach the silver mounting plate to the wall with the arrow facing up.

  2. Using the provided T25 security bit, you can attach the conduit box to the mounting plate.

  3. You need to connect the steel cable tether from the backbox to the camera.

  4. Using the provided T25 security bit, you have to attach the camera to the conduit back box and remove the protective film from the lens cover.

  5. Using the provided T25 security bit, you can loosen the screw on the camera arm and adjust it for the desired field of view (FOV), then tighten the screw securely to avoid camera position slippage.

Axis

  1. Using the appropriate fasteners for your mounting location, you have to attach the mounting plate to the wall with the arrow facing up.

  2. Using the provided T10 security bit, you have to attach the conduit box to the mounting plate.

  3. Then, connect the steel cable tether from the backbox to the camera.

  4. You have to connect the Ethernet cable.  Using the provided T10 security bit, attach the camera to the conduit backbox and remove the protective film from the lens cover.

  5. Using the provided T10 security bit, you have to loosen the screw on the camera arm and adjust for the desired field of view (FOV).  Tighten the screw securely to avoid camera position slippage.

Milesight

  1. Using the appropriate fasteners for your mounting location, you have to attach the mounting plate to the wall with the word "TOP" facing up.

  2. You have to attach the camera to the conduit backbox by sliding the hinge pins into the hinge slots on the conduit backbox.

  3. You need to connect the Ethernet cable, and then swing the camera closed against the conduit back box.  Using the provided T20 security bit, attach the camera to the conduit back box.  Remove the protective film from the lens cover.

  4. Using the provided T20 security bit, loosen the screw on the camera arm and adjust for the desired field of view (FOV).  Tighten the screw securely to avoid camera position slippage.

Powered Unit Wall Installation

Unpacking and Inventory

  1. Your self-installation camera kit will typically arrive in one package.

  2. Unpack the contents of the box yourself.

  3. Make sure you inspect the equipment and compare it to the enclosed bill of materials (BOM).

Installation

  1. If the camera arrives already attached to the enclosure, you can proceed to the mounting section below. If the camera does not arrive attached to the enclosure, you can follow the assembly steps below.

Assembly

  1. The camera conduit box has been attached to the enclosure by Evercam.

  2. You can attach the camera to the conduit box using a T10 Torx bit (provided inside the enclosure).

Mounting

Magnetic Mounting (not recommended for outdoor locations)

  1. The camera enclosure arrives with four (4) 65lb magnets attached.

  2. You need to locate a steel location for the camera kit to be mounted (column, beam, etc…)

  3. You have to hold the enclosure next to the steel structure and allow the magnets to make contact.

Traditional Fasteners

  1. Using a 9/16" or adjustable wrench, you can remove the magnets.

  2. You need to hold the enclosure to the wall in the desired location and level the enclosure.

  3. Using a pencil, you need to mark the four (4) mounting hole locations.

  4. Using the proper wall anchors/fasteners for your wall material, you should mount the enclosure securely to the wall.

Powering and Commissioning

  1. You have to plug the enclosure power cord into the wall outlet.

  2. The use of an extension cord (which is not provided by Evercam) may be needed to reach the outlet.

  3. The camera system is pre-configured and will be activated upon powering up (which takes a few minutes).

  4. Once the system is powered, the camera is activated in the Evercam platform and you should be able to see the camera field of view (FOV).

  5. You can adjust the FOV by loosening the ring around the camera arm. Once the desired FOV is achieved, you need to tighten the ring down.

Mobile Trailer Installation (Tycon RPMS24)

Use this procedure for the Evercam-equipped Tycon RPMS24 mobile trailer.

What you’ll need

  • Evercam-equipped mobile trailer with solar panels and mast

  • Stabiliser legs and wheel locks

  • Manual or hydraulic mast-lift mechanism

  • Pre-installed Victron charge controller

  • 120 V-rated AC extension cord

  • VictronConnect mobile app

  • Mast locking pins

  • Battery charging indicator or app access

Set-up

  1. Park the trailer so the mast will not shade the solar panels during peak sun. This normally means the front of the trailer faces north.

  2. In the Northern Hemisphere, orient the solar panels due south.

  3. Extend all four outriggers and level the trailer.

  4. Rotate the solar panels to face south and set the tilt angle.

  5. Tighten all adjustment bolts.

Power on

  1. Open the diamond-plate toolbox to access the power controls.

  2. Locate the two large red knobs on the left. The right knob is labelled Battery; the other is labelled AC Charge / Solar.

  3. Turn Battery to ON.

  4. Wait 10 seconds, then turn AC Charge / Solar to Solar.

Important: Always turn the Battery switch on first. Reversing the sequence may damage the MPPT charge controller.

Power off

  1. Turn AC Charge / Solar to OFF.

  2. Turn Battery to OFF.

Raise the mast

  1. Find the mast controls in the centre of the toolbox.

  2. Turn the airflow valve to UP.

  3. Start the 12 V air pump with the toggle switch.

  4. Confirm the pressure regulator is set to 30 psi.

  5. Listen for the mechanical locks as the mast rises. Stop the pump at the required intermediate height or when fully extended.

  6. Move the airflow valve to the centre STOP position.

Lower the mast

Warning: Do not release all pressure and then pull the mechanical lock rings. The mast may fall abruptly and damage mounted equipment.

  1. Turn the airflow valve to DOWN.

  2. Immediately pull the bottom lock ring. The mast should collapse slowly.

Charge the batteries from AC

  1. Connect an extension cord to the weatherproof AC receptacle on the back of the battery and equipment box.

  2. Turn Battery to ON.

  3. Turn AC Charge / Solar to AC Charge.

  4. Connect the extension cord to a suitable 10 A, 115 V AC outlet.

Charging should begin within a few minutes. Fully charging discharged batteries takes at least approximately five hours.

Caution: Do not leave the batteries charging or connected to AC for more than 12 hours. Doing so may damage the MPPT controller or batteries.
