06 Hardware and Installation FAQs

What is included in the fixed-position system?

The standard system includes a camera, mounting hardware, a control enclosure containing connectivity and local-recording equipment, and the required system cabling. Power and installation scope depend on the selected configuration and quote.

Is the equipment weather resistant?

The current main enclosure is IP65 and the Battery Box is IP55. The installed rating depends on correct mounting, cable entry and sealing. Camera lenses may still require cleaning when dirt, dust or rain affects the view.

What network connection does the system use?

The standard fixed-position kit uses industrial 4G LTE connectivity and supports dual SIMs. A site assessment may be required to identify the best carrier. Approved configurations can also use a wired network connection.

How much footage is stored locally?

The standard main control box is supplied with an installed 16TB hard drive. Retention depends on the recording configuration and project requirements.

How far can the camera be installed from the control box?

Up to 90m of outdoor-rated CAT5e or better Ethernet cable.

Does the internal battery keep the system running during a power cut?

No. The internal battery supports controlled shutdown of recording hardware. Continued operation requires the optional Evercam Battery Box or another approved backup-power arrangement.

What is required for a solar installation?

A solar deployment requires the approved Battery Box, solar array and a site-specific energy assessment. We recommend at least 600W of panel capacity, but final sizing depends on location, season, load and required autonomy.

Can I install the system myself?

Some configurations can be supplied for self-installation. The supporting structure, power source, access and cable route must be suitable. Electrical work must be completed by a competent person. Evercam Support assists with final connectivity and field-of-view checks.

Other Self-installation details

  1. The camera arrives mounted to and connected with the enclosure.

  2. Mount the enclosure to the approved wall, beam, column or pole. Magnets may be supplied for an approved steel beam/column installation.

  3. Connect the AC lead to a suitable outlet or extension lead; the extension lead is not supplied.

  4. The preconfigured camera and enclosure should boot and connect to Evercam after power-up.

  5. Contact our Support team to finalise the field of view.

What should be checked before installation?

Confirm the mounting structure, power arrangement, mobile coverage, cable routes, safe access and intended field of view. Evercam recommends powering and checking the system with Support before site installation.

What is the lead time?

Lead time depends on the hardware configuration, region, stock and installation requirements. Confirm the current lead time with Evercam when requesting a quote.
